CEDAR PARK, Texas – The Texas Stars Foundation, the official charity of the Texas Stars Hockey Club, announced on Friday it will donate $10,000 to the Austin Disaster Relief Network in support of their community efforts in response to the devastating central Texas wildfires.
“The Texas Stars Foundation, as well as the Texas Stars players, coaches and staff are proud to assist our community in this time of need,” said Texas Stars President Rick McLaughlin. “Our thoughts and prayers go out to those who have been affected by the central Texas wildfires and we will do our part to help the relief and rebuilding process.”
Through emergency disaster relief efforts and long-term recovery assistance, the Austin Disaster Relief Network (ADRN) is currently assisting victims in Cedar Park, Leander, Bastrop, Austin, and the surrounding areas. From providing critical needs (housing, toiletries, food, clothing) to ensuring continuing aid with relocation and home reconstruction, ADRN is working with families on a case by case basis to move victims beyond the disaster. Fire Victims are encouraged to reach out to ADRN via their Victim Assistance Hotline at (512) 331-2600. Interested parties can learn more about donation and volunteer opportunities by contacting (512) 331-2200.
In addition to this donation, the Texas Stars announced that the Food Drive game presented by H-E-B on Thursday, October 20th will benefit the Capital Area Food Bank of Texas. During the wildfire emergency the Capital Area Food Bank has provided mobile pantries to service the needs of area victims.
On November 19th, the Texas Stars will host their annual “Battle of the Badges” event, an evening designed to recognize the extraordinary efforts of our community’s first responders. The event will feature displays and information from emergency services groups, an on-ice competition, and more.
