QUEBEC CITY, P.Q. — Stephane Hains had a rude awakening on Friday when he learned from his General Manager Steve Ahern, that he won’t be behind Drakkar’s bench anymore.
For reporters who follow the team it wasn’t really a surprise. With a record of 1-8-0-2 in 11 outings this season, the organization needed to do something to shake things up inside the team.
“When I began as General Manager, we axed our plan on player’s development, their role on the team and we have an uncompromising attitude toward things that didn’t go in the same direction as our plan. On the ice Stephane showed great capacities, but as far as the rigor in regard of the plan we put in place and the uncompromising attitude toward the players, it was little bit harder,” Baie Comeau GM Steve Ahern said to Steeve Paradis of cyberpresse newspaper reprinted by le Soleil in his Saturday edition.
Serge Poudrier who was Hains’ assistant coach will be the interim head coach until a new coach is hired. Ahern, the Baie-Comeau GM began the evaluation of candidates and would like to hire a new coach as soon as possible.
In his career, Hains compiled a record of 25 wins 57 loses in 82 games, in one season plus the 11 games of this season.
