BOISE, ID – The Ontario Reign (4-4-0-0), defending Pacific Division Champions and proud affiliate of the NHL’s 2012 Stanley Cup Champion Los Angeles Kings, were beaten 6-2 by the Idaho Steelheads (5-2-0-0) before 3.343 at Century Link Arena Friday night. There were three goals scored in the first period and none went directly into the net. Austin Fyten bounced a puck off of Chris Carrozzi’s backside at 3:48 and Austin Smith’s shot went in off of Carrozzi’s skate at 14:24 to put Idaho up 2-0. Derek Couture pulled the Reign within a goal with his second marker of the season at 15:33, as his shot went in off of an Idaho defenseman. Colton Yellow Horn assisted on the play. At 11:43 of the second frame, Couture’s pass found CJ Stretch all alone at the base of the left circle, where he went 5-hole on Tyler Beskorowany to tie the game at 2-2. Andrew Carroll regained the lead for Idaho with a snapshot inside the left post at 18:48. Smith made it 4-2 for Idaho at 2:34 of the third period with his second goal of the game and third of the two-game series. Ontario poured a season-high 42 shots on net, but couldn’t break Beskorowany. Carrozzi took the loss with 20 saves on 25 shots. Beskorowany stopped 40 of 42 shots for the win.
