Steeldogs sign new Czech netminder

SHEFFIELD, U.K.- The Sheffield Steeldogs have signed Czech Republic netminder, Dalibor Sedlar, after releasing former first choice netminder, James Flavell.

Sedlar has represented his country at U18 and U20s level, in addition to playing in various levels of the Czech leagues.

Sedlar said, “I am really excited to come to the UK as I have heard a lot of good things about Sheffield from Lubomir [Korhon]. I know that I can help the Steeldogs make the play-offs.”

Steeldogs coach, Andre Payette, said, “I   am excited to have Dalibor on board and I think that a good young goalie fits in well with our young Sheffield team,”

“We always knew it was going to be tough for whoever filled Ben Bowns boots, but hopefully Dalibor can come in and give us that consistency at the back that will help us climb the table quickly.”

Flavell handed in a release request after struggling to manage a teaching career as well as playing for the Steeldogs.

Steeldogs owner, Shane Smith, said, “ I would like to thank James for coming in and doing his best for the club,”

“It was always going to be hard with his teaching commitments and we wish him all the best and thank him for stepping up and helping the club.”
