Payette said, “The way he puts his body on the line, game in and game out, and does anything he needs to for the team, makes him the perfect guy to be one of the assistant captains for our Sheffield team”.
Duncombe’s valuable 21 points last season and leadership in defence made him an important asset to the Steeldogs and one that Payette was thrilled to re-sign for the 2012/13 season.
“Steve is one of the strongest stay-at-home defencemen and another player I rate as one of the best in the league”.
The Steeldogs also announced, however, that netminder, Ben Bowns, would not be returning for the 2012/13 season.
After recording the best save percentage in the league, (92.99% in regular league and cup games and 94.89% in the playoffs), Bowns has attracted lots of attention from teams in the Elite League.
