SHEFFIELD, U.K.- Doncaster born defenceman, Lee Haywood, has re-signed for the Sheffield Steeldogs, in what will be his fifth season with the Sheffield team.
Haywood has proven himself on all levels of the Sheffield Academy system, playing for the Sheffield Rapiers at U16, the Sheffield Steelhawks at U19 and the Sheffield Spartans in the English National League.
Last season, Haywood also played eight games at Elite League level for the Sheffield Steelers as part of two-way contract with the Steeldogs.
In the 2011/12 season, Haywood played a total of 53 games and secured eight points, generating seven assists and scoring one goal.
Steeldogs Head Coach, Andre Payette, was thrilled to re-sign Haywood, “ I’m extremely happy to have Lee back, he is a great kid and he’s going to be part of one of the strongest defence in the EPL.”
Haywood said, “I am looking forward to next season and being part of the best defence in the League.”
“I am excited about the prospects of finishing higher than last year and winning a trophy this coming season would be great”.
