Stars stumble in Houston, 4-1

HOUSTON, Texas – The Stars were defeated by Houston 4-1 in front of 6,277 fans at the Toyota Center on Friday night. Forward Patrick O’Sullivan scored two power-play goals to lead the Aeros to their seventh win over Texas this season. Houston goalie Anton Khudobin (16-9-1) made 31 saves in the victory. Stars goalie Brent Krahn (5-5-0) stopped 32 of 35 in the loss, his first start since November 10th. Texas left wing Luke Gazdic scored the team’s lone goal, as the Stars slid to 13-9-0-1 on the road this season.
 
After a scoreless first period, the Aeros netted the only goal of the second period. Forward Patrick O’Sullivan took a backhand pass in the crease from Jon DiSalvatore at 6:18 and beat Brent Krahn for his fourth goal of the year. Former Star Warren Peters picked up an assist on the power-play goal for the 1-0 Houston lead.
 
In the third period, O’Sullivan tallied his second power-play goal of the night at 9:19, giving Houston a 2-0 lead. Center Jarod Palmer made it 3-0 just 36 seconds later at 9:57 for his fifth goal of the year. Texas ended Anton Khudobin’s shutout bid with 4:54 remaining in regulation. Left wing Luke Gazdic scored off a rebound for his sixth goal of the year and a 3-1 score. Aeros defenseman Maxim Noreau tallied an empty-net goal at 18:52 for the 4-1 final.
 
Prior to the game, the Dallas Stars announced that the club has recalled right wing Colton Sceviour from the Texas Stars.
 
Sceviour, 21, is looking to make his NHL debut. He has appeared in 47 games for Texas this season, scoring nine goals and 16 assists for 25 points with four penalty minutes and a +6 rating. A native of Red Deer, Alberta, Sceviour was originally selected by Dallas in the fourth round (112 overall) of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.
 
Texas returns home to host the Oklahoma City Barons on Saturday, February 5th at 7:00 PM.
