Stars sink Admirals; wait for next opponent

CEDAR PARK, Texas — The Texas Stars defeated the Milwaukee Admirals 2-1, winning their best of five series three games to one.

It was all Stars for the first two periods. While they only outshot the Admirals 18-17 in periods one and two, the Stars had several good scoring chances while Texas forced Milwaukee to shoot from outside.

Texas forward Matt Fraser opened the scoring with a high shot from the low slot, giving the Stars a 1-0 lead. Colton Sceviour and Brett Sonne got the assists.

“In an elimination game, you want to do what you can to break their spirit and their will,” Fraser said. “Right from the start in the whole series you want to get that first goal and be in control. It was a great play and that’s what we’re trying to do.

Alex Chiasson extended the lead to 2-0 after tipping a Kevin Connauton shot past Admirals’ goaltender Marcus Hellberg. Mike Hedden also assisted.
