CEDAR PARK, TX – Texas Stars General Manager Scott White announced this week the team has signed right wing Landon Wilson to a two-year AHL contract. Details of the agreement were not released per club policy.
“Landon Wilson brings instant credibility and a veteran presence to our locker room,” said Texas Stars General Manager Scott White in a Stars press release. “He is a guy who is very capable of scoring a lot of goals and he will be a huge asset for us in developing young prospects. Landon is a big power forward who will be a leader for us on and off the ice.”
Wilson is the first player signed in Texas Stars history. The 34-year old enters his 15th professional season after splitting last season between the NHL’s Dallas Stars and the AHL’s Grand Rapids Griffins. Wilson scored twice and totaled eight points in 27 contests with Dallas in 2008-09. In 15 games with Grand Rapids, the right wing scored eight goals and netted 15 points, while amassing 37 penalty minutes.
Wilson has played in 700 career games, including 375 in the NHL with Dallas, Phoenix, Colorado and Boston. The St. Louis, MO native has 53 career NHL goals and 119 NHL points. For his professional career, the 6-foot-3, 226-pound forward has 212 goals and 172 assists for 384 points. He also has racked up 1,193 minutes in penalties.
The Texas Stars host the Dallas Stars on Wednesday, September 30th at 7:00 pm at Cedar Park Center.
The Texas Stars are expected to announce a full pre-season schedule in the upcoming weeks with two more games at Cedar Park Center in late September.
