CEDAR PARK, Texas – The Stars were defeated by Syracuse 3-1 on Monday at Cedar Park Center. Syracuse goalie Ray Emery (4-1-0) stopped 27 of 28 shots as the Stars fell to 18-10-3-3 at home this season. Crunch left wing John Mitchell had a goal and an assist as Syracuse scored its 11th road win of the year. Stars defenseman Brad Lukowich scored the team’s lone goal. Texas goalie Tyler Beskorowany (6-6-1) stopped three of six shots to suffer the loss. Richard Bachman (22-14-4) stopped all 13 shots faced in a relief effort.
The Crunch took a 1-0 lead just 19 seconds into the first period with a goal by left wing John Mitchell. Mitchell went unassisted on the first goal of the game. Syracuse right wing Matt Kennedy extended the lead 2-0 as he found the back of the net on a penalty shot at 3:43.
Syracuse continued the scoring in the second period with a goal by right wing Brian McGrattan at 7:22. John Mitchell provided the assist for the 3-0 Crunch lead. Stars’ defenseman Brad Lukowich made it 3-1 with a power-play goal at 11:33. Forwards Colton Sceviour and Greg Rallo each helped on the first goal for Texas.
Texas begins a four-game road trip on Friday, March 11th at Syracuse at 6:30 PM (CT).
