SHEFFIELD, U.K.- Home-grown forward, Ashley Calvert, has re-signed for the Sheffield Steeldogs’ 2012/13 campaign.
After recording a total of 17 points, player/coach, Andre Payette, was keen to bring the 20 year old back for another season.
Payette said, “ Ashley was a pleasant surprise last year, scoring 13 goals and I feel he has developed well both as a hockey player and a young adult”.
“I am looking for big things from Ashley in the coming season”.
Calvert has been active in the EPL since 2008 in which he played for the Telford Tigers, followed by two seasons with the Bracknell Bees, before returning to Sheffield for the 2011/12 season.
Steeldogs owner, Shane Smith said, “Ashley grew more and more on myself and Andre, so we are both more than happy to bring him back”.
Sheffield Academy-trained Calvert expressed his excitement in returning to the Steeldogs for another season, “I am more than happy to return to Sheffield as I feel I had one of my best years in EPL last season”.
“It is great that we are looking to keep a big core of the team and should make for a very interesting season”.
