Shawinigan earns third win of regular season Zinoviev led Shawinigan offense with 2 goals

QUEBEC CITY, P.Q. — Winning onlShawinigan Cataractesy two games in their first 19 the Shawinigan Cataractes earned their third winning 5-3 against the Quebec Remparts. Ilya Zinoviev with two goals, and veteran forward Francis Beauvillier with three assists, were the home team leaders in Shawinigan’s third win of the year.

A penalty to Quebec defenseman Duncan MacIntyre opened the door to Shawinigan on their first power play of the night. Entering the Quebec zone Cataractes forward Francis Beauvillier left the puck to Frank Shumaker who let a shot go beating Quebec goaltender Francois Brassard to his right at 5:00.

Quebec tied the game on a great individual play by Anthony Duclair 5:10 later beating Marven Cupper at even strength.

Quebec began the second period taking the lead for the first time in the game. Being 0-in-1 with a man advantage in first period, the visitor taken the lead on Shawinigan penalty to Mason Grey for a hit to the head.

Shawinigan netminder Cupper made the first save on shot by Cody Donaghey. Zachary Moody in the slot takes the rebound and gave Quebec 2-1 lead with 11:37 left to play in the middle frame.

Shawinigan came back in the period with the next two goals to regain the lead, 3-2. Making the first save on Cataractes Alexandre Grand-Maison, the right winger took his rebound came from behind the net made great pass to David Perkins who scores his first of the year at 14:44.

Shawinigan came back with 1:34 remaining in the second period scoring their third goal in the game. Finding a loose puck in the slot following first shot by Francis Beauvillier the Shawinigan Russian left winger Ilya Zinoviev beat Brassard for Shawinigan third goal.

A three-on-two breakaway finally ended with Quebec’s third goal in the game. Left alone in the slot Adam Erne only had to push the puck in an empty net after Shawinigan netminder made first move to his right. Erne’s goal came at 5:12.

Shawinigan came back 43 seconds later to regain the lead 4-3 on second goal of the game by Cataractes left winger Zinoviev.

Shawinigan last goal was scored by Anthony Beauvillier in an empty net at 19:16 to make 5-3 Shawinigan earning their third wins in regular season on their 20th games of the year.

Quebec will come back in front of their fans on Saturday November 9 hosting the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies.
