STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN – Despite coming two weeks late, a deal has been struck to show live NHL games in Scandanavia. Modern Times Group (MTG) will broadcast action in Sweden, Finland, Norway and Denmark. “This is a landmark agreement that will deliver every NHL game to the Nordics for the first time ever,” said NHL Chief Operating Officer John Collins. Fans will be able to watch every regular season and playoff game. Swedish and Norwegian viewers can get hold of the action on Viasat Hockey, with some games available on TV10 in Sweden and Viasat 4 in Norway. In Denmark, the games will be broadcast on TV2 Sport, while Viasat Hockey and Nelonen Pro Sport will show the action in Finland. This follows news that Premier Sports will screen games in the UK, while Setanta Sports have right to show games in Ireland. Nova Sport have a deal to show action in the Czech Republic. Medge Consulting won the rights to sell NHL games to European markets over the summer. However, no deal was in place when the season kicked off earlier this month, despite four regular season games being played on the continent. No deal is yet to be announced in Germany and other countries across Europe. Contact the author david.bol@prohockeynews.com
