Rouyn-Noranda takes serious option on series with Quebec Penney was the best forward with 2 goals

QUEBEC CITY, P.Q. —Already leading the series 2-1 rouyn-noranda logoRouyn-Noranda pushed Quebec to the verge of elimination with a 4-1 win.

After breaking the ice in the opening period, the Huskies saw their opponent come back in the beginning of the second period. But a goal in the second half of middle frame and two others in the third sealed Quebec fate in game four of the first playoff round. Ryan Penney with two goals and Francis Beauvillier with one goal two assists took Rouyn-Noranda offense in Huskies third victories.

Out of the penalty box following a cross-checking, Rouyn-Noranda center Jean-Sebastien Dea picked up a loose puck in center ice went on breakaway but Quebec netminder Francois Brassard made first key save for the visitor blocking the Huskies center shot with right pad.

Couple minutes later Francis Beauvillier gave 1-0 lead to the Huskies beating Quebec goalie over his left shoulder with a backhand shot at 14:24.

Unable to take advantage of their first power play Rouyn-Noranda began the second period with a man up for 1:38 seconds following a penalty to Quebec right winger Nick Sorensen with 22.8 remaining in opening period.

The teams traded goals in the middle frame with the Huskies regaining the lead for second times in game.

Mikhail Grigorenko tied the game one goal-a-piece with a one-timer shot that went under Brassard right arm at 13:12.

Rouyn-Noranda regained the lead with Ryan Penny who surprised Quebec goalie from behind the net. Penny’s shot hit Quebec defenseman Cody Donaghey stick before going in 8:05 seconds after Quebec tying goal.

Being 1-in-18 in that series and 0-in-4 Rouyn-Noranda will began the third period with 2:00 power play following a penalty to Quebec forward Adam Chapman at 20:00 of second period.

Leading 2-1 after the first forty minutes of play the Huskies came back in third adding two more goals. Jack Nevins redirect a shot from Francis Beauvillier from the slot beating Quebec netminder to his right with 13:18 to play.

Ryan Penny with 1:12 remaining in the game scores his second of the game in an empty net.

Game five in this series will be Friday in Rouyn-Noranda. Quebec will face elimination.
