Relentless Phoenix continue to set pace

Manchester PhoenixMANCHESTER, UK – Manchester Phoenix continued their relentless pace at the top of the English Premier League with two more wins this weekend.

A 3-1 victory down in Milton Keynes on Saturday was backed up by an emphatic 12-2 thrashing of Slough Jets on Sunday.

Phoenix had the game won by the end of the second period as they led 9-1.

Frantisek Bakrlik landed two goals and two assists with teammates James Archer, Michal Psurny and Liam Chong also grabbing pairs in the rowt.

Tony Hand, Robin Kovar, Jack Watkins and Richard Bentham also getting their names on the scoresheet.

The only blip for Phoenix was the loss of Jacob Corsonx-Heron to a match penalty after he was ejected for slashing.

Saturday night’s win over Milton Keynes Lightning was less routine but equally as important.

Bakrlik, Archer and Hand scored the vital markers after they had fallen behind to Leigh Jamieson’s early goal.

And Stephen Fone, who is having a stellar start to the new season, turned aside 20 of 21 shots.

Phoenix are now two points clear of Champions Guildford who they face next weekend.
