Jonathan Parker got the first one on the board for Ontario at 1:26 with a quick deke that split the Idaho defense. Parker brought the puck in close and snuck it past the outstretched left pad of Pat Nagle. Maxim Kitsyn and Rocco Carzo extended their point streaks to six and three games, respectively, with the assists. Kitsyn struck again at 6:11 with a topshelf wristshot past Nagle. Parker fed him a perfect pass across the Steelheads zone and Carzo added the secondary assist.

While on the man-advantage, Ontario’s defense was caught leaving a Steelhead open for a clear shot. Mitch Wahl was wide open for David de Kastrozza to send a long pass across the Reign end. Wahl banged the shot past Anderson’s glove side at 13:07 of the first period. Before the first 20 minutes ended, White banged one in for Ontario with just four seconds left in the period. Derek Couture and Gasper Kopitar assisted.

In the second period, Matt Register scored his 13th goal of the season at 14:39 with some help from Everett Sheen on a face-off win. The defenseman launched a shot from the blue line that sailed over Nagle’s glove to put the Reign up 4-1.

Near the start of the third period, a goalmouth collision forced Nagle out of the game. He was replaced by Kevin Kapalka.

At the 6:19 mark, Idaho got past one of the Reign defenders at the blueline and with a two-on-one, power-play opportunity, set up a tic-tac-toe play that caught Anderson on his heels. Jason Bast got them on the board for the Steelheads second goal of the night. Ontario jumped to a 5-2 lead with a beautiful wristshot off the stick of Dylan Hood. The forward skated it through the neutral zone and ripped one from the top of the left circle at 13:46.

Before the clock ran out, Kopitar was the one to push the puck past Kapalka at 18:37 to secure the 6-2 win for Ontario. Assists for the power-play goal went to Register and Guimond.

Anderson earned the win for the Reign with 27 saves; Nagle suffered the loss with 21 saves, while Kapalka made eight stops in relief of Nagle
