Reading wins seventh straight

CINCINNATI, Ohio- Reading has swept the first two games of the series so far. The Cyclones lack of offense reared its ugly head again for the second game in a row.

Tonight the contest was closer than the score indicated due to an empty netter for Reading to seal the win.   Brock Sheahan and Reid Cashman brought an active stick to the party tonight. Their defensive zone activities complemented netminder Jeremy Smith well. Defenseman Doug Krantz was his usual tough as nails self in all three zones.

Reading got on the scoreboard first again with a goal by defenseman Jared Ross on a shot that skittered past Smith from the right side. At the other end of the rink Matt Dalton was stopping anything that came near. He stopped a total of 45 shots on goal for the tilt. Dalton stopped a number of point blank shots from Cyclones forwards but was most impenetrable.

The ‘Clones never got the offense on track save for the one tally in the third on a hard shot by Brett Motherwell that Brett Robinson redirected past Dalton.

There was no scoring by either team in the second. The Cyclones wasted four power play opportunities during the period, unable to convert with the man advantage. The Cyclones again were given a very late penalty that resulted in an empty net goal by Reading to make the final score of 3-1.

Games 3 and 4 are scheduled to be in Reading on Tuesday and Saturday of next week with a game 5 scheduled if needed.
