Reading hosts ECHL All-Star Game, Skills Competition

READING, Pa – Even though the Reading Royals are going through one of the worst seasons in franchise history, the hockey gods must be smiling on the city of Reading, Pennsylvania for some reason. For the second time in four years, the 17th annual ECHL All-Star Game comes to Reading.
 
Tonight is the Skills competition that will include the following events:
 
Competing in the Sherwood Hockey Puck Control Relay will be Travis Morin   of South Carolina, Barret Ehgoetz  of Cincinnati and Jarret Lukin   of Dayton and Matt Shasby   of Alaska, Kenny MacAulay   of Stockton and Matt Pope   of Bakersfield. In the Sherwood one-on-one Puck Control Relay, the American Conference will be represented by Johann Kroll  of South Carolina and the National Conference will be represented by Ryan Huddy   of Stockton. The CCM U+ Fastest Skater competition will feature Aaron Brocklehurst  of Florida, Josh Aspenlind   of Elmira and Aaron Clarke  of Wheeling against Dan Gendur   of Victoria, Matt Fornataro   of Phoenix and Mark Bomersback   of Idaho. In the Reebok Rapid Fire competition, the American Conference will have Ryan Cruthers  of Mississippi and Jordan Fox   of Gwinnett against Jean-Philippe Lamoureux   of Alaska; Justin Taylor  of Las Vegas and Matt Stephenson   of Idaho against Kris Mayotte   of Johnstown; Ryan Gunderson   of Trenton and Bryan Ewing   of Wheeling against John Murray   of Ontario; Tom May  of Las Vegas and Matt Pope  of Bakersfield against Michal Neuvirth   of South Carolina; Ryan Del Monte   of Johnstown and Tyler Doig   of Reading against Joe Fallon  of Fresno; and Jeff May  of Las Vegas and Ryan Huddy  of Stockton against David Leggio  of Florida.
 
The individual record for most saves is 10 of 10 by Ryan MacDonald   of Fresno in 2007 and Dan Ellis of Idaho in 2004 while the team record is 26 of 30 by the Western Conference in 2004. In the MeiGray Group Accuracy Shooting Competition, the shooters for the American Conference will be Ryan Cruthers   of Mississippi, Bryan Ewing  of Wheeling and Kevin Baker  of Florida and the passers will be Travis Morin   of South Carolina and Barret Ehgoetz   of Cincinnati. The shooters for the National Conference will be Cory Urquhart  of Stockton, Mark Derlago  of Bakersfield and Colin Hemingway   of Alaska and the passers will be Matt Shasby   of Alaska and Kenny MacAulay  of Stockton.
 
The individual record for most targets hit is 4 of 4 by Ash Goldie   of Victoria in 2008 while the team record is 11 of 19 by the Northern Conference in 2003. In the Reebok O-Stick Hardest Shot competition, the American Conference will have Steve Ward   of Reading, Matt Cohen   of Trenton, Matthew Ford   of Charlotte and Elgin Reid   of Wheeling and the National Conference will have Geoff Walker  and Tim Kraus   of Ontario, Dylan Yeo   of Victoria and Michael Wilson   of Phoenix. The record for the hardest shot is 102.2 mph by Jon Awe   of Gwinnett in 2007 while the team record is 96.05 mph by the Southern Conference in 1999. The record for most goals scored is eight by two teams, most recently by the National Conference in 2006, while the record for most team saves is 16 by the American Conference in 2007 and the record for most individual saves is 6 of 6 by three players, most recently by Daniel Manzato   of Las Vegas in 2008.
