Rangers tease but take points in seven of eight

NEW YORK, NY – The New York Rangers are just awful at home.   Pitiful, really.   And the Boston Bruins are coming to the Garden tonight.

After stringing together four straight wins, the club rallied from a 2-0 deficit to the New York Islanders to tie the game, only to lose with seconds left in the overtime session.   But it was still a point.

Then the Rangers decided to take a night off and lost to the hated Philadelphia Flyers in 6-0 embarrassment.

A 2-1 win in Carolina over the equally dismal Hurricanes provided yet another teasing moment in a season of failed efforts from thes club.   The next night the Hurricanes visited Madison Square Garden and made it two in a row on the road and continued the Rangers woes on home ice.   A 2-1 overtime loss made the home team dreadful and continued their teasing ways.

Marian Gaborik scored the lone goal for the Rangers in this last contest, his second even strength goal in the last 14 games.

It is difficult to feel anything when watching the Rangers these days.   Enthusiasm from a win is broken on the rocks of the next loss and lack of effort on the ice.   Something has to give and neither general manager Glen Sather nor head coach John Tortorella can be happy.   One or the other needs to make a move soon before its too late.
