Quebec wins in OT 4-3 over Prince Edward Island

QUEBEC CITY, P.Q. — The second goal of the game by Ryan Bourque, in overtime, gave Quebec their second victory in as many nights in this important road trip. The Remparts will try to make it three for three on Sunday in Saint John against the Sea Dogs.

Quebec broke the ice with the first two goals of the game.

Frederick Roy opened the scoring 2:37 into the opening period with a man-advantage, when his shot beat Rocket goaltender Adam Mosher. Ryan Bourque made it a 2-0 at 8:47 with his eighth goal of the year with a backhand shot beating Mosher on his right side.

The Rocket came out in the second period playing better hockey scoring three goals with the man advantage. Felipe Corbo didn’t miss his opportunity to beat Quebec netminder 5:58 into second frame. His shot, from high in the slot, beat Jimmy Appleby cutting the Remparts’ lead in half.

Unable to keep his position in net Appleby saw Andrej Nestrasil pick up a loose puck then beating Appleby for PEI’s second goal at 7:42.

PEI took the lead for the first time in the game 3-2 when defenseman Adam Polasek one-timer at 16:42.

Quebec head coach Patrick Roy decided to make a change to begin the third period sending veteran Louis Domingue to replace Jimmy Appleby. Appleby gave up three goals on 19 shots.

After seeing Tomas Filippi miss possibly the best scoring chance of the third period the equalizer came from the stick of the other European Mirko Hoefflin. Bourque found Hoefflin on a two-on-one breakaway and beat Mosher tying the score 3-3 forcing both teams to go in overtime.

The second goal of the game by Bourque ended the game on positive note for Quebec with their second win in as many nights.
