Quebec registers 11th win in Baie-Comeau Sorensen scores two Quebec goals in 2-1 victory

QUEBEC CITY, P.Q. — Playing their sixth game of the regular season, their last of the season against the Drakkar and winning three of first five confrontations (two in Baie-Comeau Quebec won for the 11th time in Baie-Comeau. The last Baie-Comeau victory at home against Quebec went back to January 2, 2010.

After a scoreless first period where each team had one great scoring chance Adam Erne for Quebec on a breakaway and Felix Girard for Baie-Comeau, Quebec finally opened the scoring in the second period.

Making two saves against Nick Sorensen with the left pad the rebound came right back to Sorensen making great pass to Adam Erne. Taking a shot on Drakkar netminder the power forward saw Sorensen redirect the shot beating Baie-Comeau goaltender Philippe Cadorette at 14:47.

Beginning the third period with a five-on-four power play Baie-Comeau missed their chance for the third time with a man advantage.

Sorensen came back later in the third period with 11:59 remaining to score a second goal, his 19th of the seaimages[1]son, beating Cadorette top corner.

Felix Girard the best player on Baie-Comeau team broke the ice for the Drakkar with his 22nd of the year with exactly 8:00 to go in the third period. Winning his battle along the board Drakkar defenseman Maxim Lamarche made perfect pass to Baie-Comeau captain Girard for the home team first goal.

This goal scored by Girard seemed to give some energy to the home team but unfortunately for fans in the arena it was too little to late as Quebec successfully defended their one goal lead.

Quebec ended the game 1-for-3 with a man advantage, while Baie-Comeau went 0-in-3.

FrancoiBrassard for Quebec made 31 saves on Baie-Comeau’s 32 shots. Philippe Cadorette made 20 saves on Quebec 22 shots.

Quebec next game will be Friday in Victoriaville facing the Tigres.
