Cataractes, the Quebec Remparts lost Saturday night, 4-3, against the Drummondville Voltigeurs. A penalty in the third period to Logan Shaw led to a second goal by Marc-Olivier Brouillard.

“We have been lucky tonight, a goal scored in power play is stimulus for our players,” said the Drummondville head coach Mario Duhamel after the game.

Out since the World Junior Championship with an ankle injury, Mikhail Grigorenko picked up Quebec’s first goal of the game at 14:02 of the opening period.

Drummondville tied the game only 10 second later on a goal by Emil Sylvergard his 9th of the season, Bryce Milson and Olivier Caouette got the helpers.

After killing a penalty to Anthony Duclair to begin the second period, Quebec saw young Drummondville netminder Dominic Graham make a great save on a two-on-one breakaway. Instead of taking a shot, Grigorenko decided to make a pass to Frederick Roy that was stopped.

Three goals in 36 seconds ended with Quebec leading by one goal for the third time in the game.

After taking the lead 1-0 in the second half of the opening period, Gabriel Desjardins gave a 2-1 lead 8:06 into the middle frame with a wrist shot. Like in the first period, Drummondville came back scoring their second goal when Napessis Andre’s shot from the blue line found his way behind Quebec netminder Louis Domingue at 8:26.

Quebec regained the lead 3-2 only 15 seconds later on goal by Logan Shaw 15th of the regular season, his first with his new team since the trade, Michael McNamee and Adam Erne got the assist at 8:41.

Quebec thought they had scored a fourth goal just before the siren sound announced the end of second period Frederick Roy who had been frustrated by Voltigeur goalie thought he had scored but unfortunately for the 11,694 fans in the building the puck crossed the red line after the period ended. The victim of three bad goals in the game the night before (versus Shawinigan), Quebec netminder Louis Domingue gave up what appeared to be another bad  goal on Marc-Olivier Brouillard’s first of two goals in the third period at 2:28. Drummondville’s third goal brought both team back to square one for a third time in the game.

Logan Shaw’s penalty for hooking at 12:50 in the third period led to second goal of the game, the one that seemed to kill any hope from Quebec team to put an end to their losing streak.

“I’m not happy about the way we compete tonight. I didn’t found us dynamic, we did not win our one-on-one battle, we did not turn on the right side on for checking we didn’t put pressure on their defense,”   Remparts head coach Patrick Roy said after the game.

“We were too fancy tonight we have had difficulties to see opportunities, we skates with our head between the legs,” Roy added.

Asked to comment on his goaltender’s performance, the Quebec head coach feigned not to hear the question, “Sorry I didn’t hear your question? The reporter repeated the question, same answer.”

That said it all.

Quebec next game will be against the Gatineau Olympiques on Saturday January 28th.

Three other games were on schedule in QMJHL on Saturday night
