Quebec loses in Victoriaville 5-2

QUEBEC CITY, P.Q. — After scoring the first two goals of the game inside the first 12:00 minutes, Quebec saw the Victoriaville Tigres score five answered goals leading to a 5-2 win. Quebec lost their second in as many confrontations. The two teams will face each other four more times.
 
Ryan Bourque opened the scoring for Quebec after getting a great pass from veteran center Joel Champagne and beating Antonio Mastropietro at 4:54. After making a key save on Olivier Hinse, the Tigres netminder didn’t have a chance on Frederick Roy’s one-timer following a great play behind the net by Axel Rioux at 11:59 lading to a 2-0 Quebec cushion.
 
A failed pass attempt by the Quebec netminder led to a Philip-Michael Devos score.  
 
Quebec ended first period leading by one but Victoriaville got the best in shots on goal department 14-8.
 
Yanni Gourde tied the game two all, on a power play on a one-timer following a great pass from Pierre-Luc Pelletier. Gourde’s goal, his 14th of the year, came at 2:49 in the middle frame.
 
After killing a five-minute penalty to Quebec defenseman Guillaume Rousseau for elbowing, the Remparts was unable to repeat the feat following a two-minute penalty to veteran John Audy Marchessault who was penalized for high sticking.
 
Brandon Hawes gave Victoriaville the lead for the first time on a power play when his shot deflected off Quebec defenseman Alex Wall before beating Domingue high on his left side at 10:57.
 
Left uncovered in the slot, Philippe Maillet took a rebound from Hawes’ first shot leaving no chance to Quebec goaltender at 16:07. Yannick Dube scored last Victoriaville goal in an empty net hitting the last nail in Quebec coffin.
 
Quebec will get back in action on Saturday night hosting the Shawinigan Cataractes, before ending the weekend and the three games in three nights on Sunday afternoon hosting the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles.
