Unable to take advantage of first power play in the game following a penalty to Quebec center Massimo Carozza, Chicoutimi saw their opponent getting on board on their first power play opportunity.

With Saguennens right winger Timothe Simard in the penalty box for tripping, Quebec center Carozza took a shot from the blue line that deflected right on defenseman Matt Murphy stick.

The veteran defenseman who had been invited to rookie Pittsburgh training camp beats Chicoutimi goaltender Julio Billia with only 9.4 seconds left to Simard penalty. For the recently nominated new Quebec captain it was his first goal of the season at 19:50.

While the fans who took place in Georges-Vezina Center had had to wait until the last ten seconds of the first period before to see the first goal in the game, the second period offered more action with three goals.

Perfect on their first opportunity with a man-advantage Quebec took advantage of their second chances to add to their leads. Left uncovered near Chicoutimi goal second year player in QMJHL Matthew Boucher redirect a pass from defenseman Murphy as Sagueneens forward Frederik Allard was in penalty box found guilty of freezing the puck. Boucher’s goal came at 3:25.
