QMJHL training camp trades

QUEBEC CITY , P.Q. — Some QMJHL general managers made some adjustments to their different teams. First significant trade saw veteran 20 year old Samuel Carrier going from Baie-Comeau to Blainville-Boisbriand.

Deciding not to report to Baie-Comeau preferring to think about other options, the former Quebec Remparts first round pick 10th overall in 2008, who had been traded to Lewiston MAINEiacs and played subsequently with Baie-Comeau after the Lewiston team had been disbanded saw his right, been traded to Blainville-Boisbriand.

Totaling 43 points in 51 games (13 goals), the Varenne Quebec native will certainly become a key member of Armada defensive unit. In return, the Drakkar received a first round selection in 2014.

After seeing the Washington Capitals didn’t signed him after selected him in 6th round (176th overall) in 2010, Carrier began to question about possible other options. Thinking they will have the veteran defenseman for one year, after acquiring him from Lewiston, the organization made for the best when they traded the veteran defenseman to Blainville-Boisbriand especially for a first round pick.

Baie-Comeau saw another of his player leaving the team for good. Goaltender and former Quebec netminder Jimmy Appleby pulled the plug on his junior carrier, preferring  to pursue other options after admitting he lost his motivation to continue to play hockey.

Elsewhere in the league, The Chicoutimi Sagueneens acquired another former Quebec Remparts in defenseman Philippe Archambeault from the Sherbrooke Phoenix. Chicoutimi sent a fifth round pick in 2013.

With the arrival of Samuel Carrier (from Baie-Comeau) and Maximilien Le Sieur from Sherbrooke in Blainville-Boisbriand, the Armada needed to make room for their new veteran defenseman and new forward.

Joel Bouchard the Armada G.M. sent another defenseman Vincent Richer (formerly playing for Gatineau Olympiques) to Sherbrooke. In return Patrick Charboneau the Phoenix G.M. received a fifth round selection in 2014.

To conclude his day of work on trade market Sherbrooke G.M. Charboneau traded defenseman Mitchell Shewfelt to Cape Breton, in return the Screaming Eagles received a 10th round pick in 2013.

In Victoriaville, the general manager lets some players go from training camp. A total of eight players saw their dream of making the Tigres ended. Goaltenders Julien Rioux (19 year old) and Marc Therriault (18), forwards Etienne Lavoie (17), Jean-Dominic Samson (18), Jessy Turin (18), Jason Caron (18), Christophe Daoud (17) and defenseman Dallas Lahache (17).
