Pro Hockey News announces major milestones

RIO RANCHO, NM– Pro Hockey News is excited to announce a set of milestones for the publication.

For any announcement it is necessary to give one location in the date line.   But Pro Hockey News wants to make sure that every location is cited in this announcement.   Philadelphia, Boston, Quebec, London, Helsinki, Broomfield, Jacksonville, Brooklyn, Austin, Reading, West Orange, Loveland, Muskegon, Columbus, Port Huron, Knoxville, Grand Rapids, Fayetteville, Hartford, Bakersfield, Victoria, Stockton, Anchorage, Algeria, Dubai, well you probably get the idea at this point.

Pro Hockey News is in its 5th season of reporting on professional ice hockey.   And this season has been its most successful yet.

Since the launch of the current version of the publication in June 2008, our writers, columnists and photographers have contributed more than 1000 original articles to the content and the information base on professional hockey.

Shellie Lima and Jack Lima contributed the 1000th article this week when they wrote and photographed an article on the Stockton Thunder and the Ontario Reign playoff series in the ECHL.

The North American leagues have been the primary focus of the publication with the AHL, IHL, CHL, ECHL, and SPHL commanding most of the focus.    Throw in the EPHL and AAHA in the “A” levels and the continent is awash in minor league professional hockey.

Over the past two seasons Pro Hockey News has begun to shift its focus to the National Hockey League and has covered the NHL Entry Draft for two years and will do so again in 2009 when the NHL goes to Montreal for the Draft.   In the past two seasons our prognosticators have fared well against the likes of ESPN, CBC Sports, and FOX Sports in predicting the order of the draft.

But the game of North America has stretch out to Great Britain, Europe and beyond.

Our editorial offices in London have covered the British leagues for four seasons and exposed professional hockey in the United Kingdom to our readers.   The economy and allure of travel abroad has enticed more than a few players from this side of the Atlantic.   Germany, France, Italy, Sweden, and Norway have found their way to our pages.

And now Pro Hockey News has taken the next step by beginning coverage of professional ice hockey in the Arab World.   Coverage will begin in May with the Arab Cup 2009.   As a preamble we have been covering a small tournament in Dubai through the experiences of a CHL-based head coach.

All of this coverage and all of the people who have committed to the publication of Pro Hockey News has yielded a major milestone.

On 16 April 2009 Pro Hockey News recorded the 2,000,000th page view for its site since beginning operation in 2004.

The first 1,000,000 page views were recorded over 3+ years.   The second 1,000,000 were recorded in less than two full seasons of hockey.

Pro Hockey News is indebted to the more than 200 staff writers, photographers, columnists, and editors who support the publication.   In an era where newspapers and professional hockey have been hit by the slumping economics we have seen a growth that reflects the interest in the sport and the need for coverage of the sport in small and large markets.

We thank every person, every hockey fan and every reader who has stopped by and honored our staff by reading their work.   Their talent is obvious and we are grateful. We are especially grateful to Intotheboards.net and Joe Levandosky for support and advice over the past 18 months.

We are looking forward to the next 1,000,000th page view.
