CHELSEA PIERS, NY – This interview with Alana Blahoski is a special one here on the Power Play Break. She was a member of the 1998 United States, Women’s Ice Hockey. What makes this special is she was part of an amazing piece of history in women’s and Olympic Sport. They were the first to compete in the sport of ice hockey for women for the first time and they won the ultimate prize in the Olympics, a Gold Medal. It is always special to make history.
It was my pleasure to be there in Nagano Japan for CBS Sports to work on the coverage of the Gold Medal game. In my career I have witnessed numerous championships but this one was special. It was a group of woman who came together and made something crystallize on the ice in Japan, half a world away. I knew both coaches as they were from my days in college at Northeastern and one of the players on team USA, Shelly Looney is part of the Northeastern Nation.
She is a great person and gives a great interview!
Enjoy this interview with Alana Blahoski!
