Power Play Break, Blahoski recall Nagano Games A look back at the Nagano Olympic Games

CHELSEA PIER, NY – For segment three with Alana we dig a little deeper into the introduction of wPPB logoomen’s ice hockey into the Olympics.

Alana also talks about the tryout process for the 1998 Women’s Hockey Team, and some shenanigans that occurred while on their tour before heading to Nagano.

There is also a discussion of her role as assistant coach and her reaction to the naming of Ben Smith as the head coach of the women’s team.

“Ben Smith was a father figure to a lot of us on the team,” Blahoski said.

She said the team would “take a bullet for him”.

The coaching experience taught Blahoski how to fill a roster.

There is a fascinating discussion of the process of player selection to the initial roster and the grind through cut downs to the final selections for the Nagano Games.
