PHPA, ECHL jersey auction a success

ST. CATHERINES, Ont – The Professional Hockey Players’ Association (PHPA), in association with the ECHL, completed their 4th Annual Captains’ Club Jersey Auction to benefit the PHPA’s Membership Assistance Program (MAP) on Sunday May 25.
Game-worn jerseys from the Captain of each of the 25 teams in the ECHL were auctioned on eBay.
Darryl Dionne, PHPA Director of Communications and Business Development said “There were approximately 3 to 4 bidders on each jersey with the highest bid of $355 and the lowest at $200.”
This was the first year that the PHPA operated their own auction on eBay. For the last 3 years MeiGray handled the auction for the PHPA.
“The results, in term of dollars raised, were on par with last year,” said Dionne.
The Captain’s Club Jersey Auction was started in 2004 in an effort to help fund the Membership Assistance Program, which provides all PHPA Members and their families access to counseling services when dealing with personal, work-related and behavioral health concerns.
“We want to thank everyone who bid in the auction, we really appreciate all of the support,” said Dionne.
