Photo essay: Bears at Checkers

CHARLOTTE, NC – The Charlotte Checkers returned home after two playoff games in Hershey PA hoping to pull ahead in the series, which was tied 1-1. The outcome of tonight’s game left the Checkers one game behind the Bears, trailing 2 to 1 in the Calder Cup playoff series.
The first period was all the Bears and they never let up. They scored first and then a second goal. The best the Checkers could do was to score 2 goals for the night and the Bears scored a total of 3. Charlotte had 30 shots on goal compared to 23 by the Bears but still did not get the win.
With 31 seconds left in the 3rd period and trailing 3-2 the Checkers got a break with a call against Hershey for a high stick. The Checkers had already pulled their goalie and had a 6 to 4 player advantage but could not pull out the win.
