WICHITA, Kan. – Ian Lowe grabbed one point to lead the Wichita Thunder to a 3-0 victory over the Arizona Sundogs.
The win gave Wichita a 2-0 lead in the best of seven series.
The Thunder’s penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Arizona power plays. Arizona was unable to stop Wichita from sending pucks towards the net, and the Thunder eventually piled up 33 shots on goal.
Wichita also got a goal from Matt Summers as well. In addition, Wichita received assists from Andrew Martens, who had two and Gregor Hanson, Chad Painchaud, Jon Madden and Matt Robinson, who each chipped in one.
The Sundogs found themselves stymied offensively, and got off a mere 11 shots against Wichita’s defense.
Arizona was led by Jason Morgan, who took three shots.
Torrie Jung made 11 saves for the Thunder on 11 shots. Wichita incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. David Brown rejected 30 shots on goal for the Sundogs. Arizona incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
