MISSISSAUGA, Ont – The Mississauga Steelheads hosted the Ottawa 76’s on Friday night (at the Hershey Centre) beating them 4 – 3 in what was a crucial game for both teams as we approach the playoffs.
Period 1: No scoring in the first period as both teams took up defensive roles. The Steelheads out shot the 67’s in the first period 12 to 6.
Score at the end of 1; Steelheads 0 – Ottawa 67’s 0
Period 2: The second period was much the same as the first but in the last minute of play, Mississauga’s Jesse Barwell scored on a power play assisted by both Austin Gerhart and Sam Babintsev. Fourteen seconds later Josh Burnside made it 2 – 0 assisted by Bryson Cianfrone.

Period 3: The third period began unlike the first two with Sam Babintsev scoring at 3:58 assisted by Austin Gerhart and Sean Day making it 3 – 0. Ottawa’s Erik Bradford scored their first of two quick goals around the half way mark of the period assisted by Travis Konecny and Ryan Van Stralen, Then at 12:47 Travis. Konecny scored their second goal assisted by Ryan. Van Stalen and Troy Henley reducing Mississauga’s lead to only one goal. Mississauga’s Damian Bourne scored less than twenty seconds later assisted by Bryson Cianfrone and Josh Burnside making it 4 – 2. Ottawa’s Travis Konecny scored on the power play at 17:18 assisted by Dante Salituro and Erik Bradford. Despite a flurry of activity in the last minute of play, Mississauga’s goalie, Spencer Martin held his own not allowing Ottawa to tie the game.
