SYDNEY, Australia – The Melbourne Ice used a three-goal second period to put distance between them and the Bears on Saturday as the Ice added one to the “W” column in a 7-3 outcome.
The Ice improved to 10-3-0-2 (32 points) on the season, second to the North Stars with 34 points.
John Gordon led the way for the Ice with two goals and four points in the win. Matt Gordon added a goal and two assists while Todd Graham chipped in three assists on the night.
Dahlen Phillips stopped 22 of 25 shots in net for the Ice and earned the win.
Renars Kazanovs absorbed the loss for the Bears in facing 37 shots on the night. Jan Koubek led the Bears with a goal and two assists in the losing effort.
