BUFFALO, NY – On Sunday, the Florida Panthers rallied from a 3-1 deficit to clip the Sabres on their home ice, 4-3. For the Panthers, the points were their first on the road this season. For the Sabres it was another disappointing loss as the defense let down and surrendered a power-play goal to Brian Campbell.
Panthers goaltender Jose Theodore made 17 saves and Ryan Miller stopped 29 of 33 shots.
“I don’t think the spirit was broken, I think we played a lot of hockey in the last four days,” Sabres coach Lindy Ruff said. “I think some of our top guys, when the shift got long they didn’t have much left. It hurts, but you have to pick yourself up.”
The Sabres are suffering from a failure of the second through fourth line to contribute to the score-sheet.
The line of Thomas Vanek – Cody Hodgson – Jason Pominville has produced the majority of Buffalo’s goals.
PHN’s David Sturm was in Buffalo for the game and captured the action.*
