PHILADELPHIA, Pa – The Philadelphia Flyers continued their pre-season schedule this week with a tilt against the New Jersey Devils. Mike Sislo scored the game winner in a 2-1 decision in the Devils’ favor.
Corey Schneider got the win for New Jersey making 22 saves on the night. Philadelphia’s Kimmo Timonen scored late in the third ending Schneider’s scoreless streak at 158:22.
“What do you say?” Devils coach Pete DeBoer asked on NHL.com about Schneider’s performance. “Just solid, confident and he gives our team that feeling when he’s in there.”
Schneider deferred to his teammates in response to the praise for his efforts, “I thought our team did a great job blocking shots,” he said on NHL.com. “Some of the guys were blocking shots like it was April. It was great to see.”
Marek Zidlicky opened the scoring for New Jersey potting a backhand from the behind the net that beat Ray Emery in the Flyers’ net.
