PHN’s Best Shots of the Game: Bootland scores twice as Americans beat Oilers 3-1

Allen, Texas — The Allen Americans faced off against the Tulsa Oilers on a cold Friday night in Allen.  The contest, the first of three games between the two teams this weekend with the Americans coming away with a 3-1 win over the Oilers.

The Oilers jumped out to an early lead when Michel Beausoleil lit the lamp at the 14:30 mark of the first period.  The goal, his tenth of the season, was assisted by Ben Gordon and Todd Robinson.  The lone goal of the period gave Tulsa a 1-0 lead.  The Americans led the Oilers in shots, 12-9.

Allen answered in the second period when Phil Fox slid the puck past Oilers goalie Shane Madolora only 3:38 into the frame.  The goal, Fox’s third in two games, was assisted by Alex Lavoie.  The Americans struck again halfway through the period when Darryl Bootland found the back found the back of the net, assisted by Kale Kerbashian and Jamie Schaafsma with 10:18 to go in the frame.  The goal, Bootland’s eighth of the season, gave the Americans a 2-1 lead to end the second period.  The Americans led the Oilers in shots, 23-14. 

The Americans increased their lead to 3-1 when Darryl Bootland scored his second of the night, assisted by Greger Hanson and Kale Kerbashian with 2:55 to go in the third, giving Allen the win. 

With Bootland’s two goals tonight, he now leads the team with nine goals scored. Tulsa outshot Allen 9-7 in the period but Allen led Tulsa with 42-32.

The Americans and Oilers will face off again tomorrow night at the Allen Event Center at 7:05.
