MELBOURNE, Australia – The Sydney Bears stopped by the Melbourne Ice for a match this past weekend. Unfortunate for them they left with a 7-3 loss.
There was early reason for optimism as the Bears led after 20 minutes, 2-1. Jan Koubek netted two goals for Sydney as the club built a 2-0 lead. But with six seconds left in the opening frame, Chris Frank got the Ice on the board to make it 2-1.
Frank would score again in the second period, again in the last minute, to give the Ice a 4-3 lead heading to the third. In the final stanza, the Ice potted three more goals to make the final 7-3.
The Bears fell to 5-12-0-1 on the season and only the Canberra Knights are below in the ladder.
