ALLEN, Texas – The Allen Americans won their first overtime game of the season on Saturday evening at the Allen Event Center, 3-2 over the Wichita Thunder.
Scotty Howes scored the game winner on the power play with 90 seconds left in the overtime period, when Anthony Maiani found him in front of the net, tipping one past Wichita goalie Kevin Regan for the overtime victory. It was Howes’ second goal of the night, and his 19th of the season in 19 games. Trevor Ludwig picked up his 4th of the year Saturday night in the Allen win. Anthony Maiani had three helpers and now has 29 points on the season, one behind team leader Scotty Howes, who has 30. With the victory, Allen climbs to within a point of top seeded Wichita in the Central Hockey League standings with four games in hand.
