TULSA, Okla. – The Tulsa Oilers gave up a lead, got it back in the third period and held on for a 5-4 win over the Wichita Thunder on Friday night in front of 3,742 at the BOK Center. It was the third straight win for the Oilers (7-4-1) and second in a row over Wichita (8-3-0).
The Oilers got goals from David Solway, Luke Lucyk, and Mike Ullrich to jump out to a 3-1 lead after the first period. Sean Erickson’s power play tally early in the second period gave the Oilers a three goal advantage, but the Thunder stormed back with three goals in the span of five minutes to tie the game.
Penalties by Aaron Davis and Alex Bourret gave the Oilers a 5-on-3 power play just four minutes into the third period. Jeff Terminesi capitalized with a wrister from the high slot that beat Adam Russo and put the Oilers out front for good. Tulsa finished the night 3 for 9 on the power play and peppered Russo with 33 shots.
Tulsa netminder Ian Keserich made 25 saves and picked up his league-leading seventh win of the season.
Oilers forward Michel Beausoleil registered three assists on the night, giving him 600 points in his professional career. The 11th year veteran began his career in 2001-02 with the Knoxville Speed (UHL) and has now played in 613 contests with nine teams in five different leagues.
