NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas – The Texas Brahmas topped the visiting Laredo Bucks on Wednesday night by the score of 4-1 behind a two-goal performance by Phil Fox and a near-perfect outing from goaltender Mark Guggenberger.
*Texas started the scoring early when defenseman Erik Spady fired a slapshot from the point past Laredo goalie Torrie Jung just over two minutes into the game. For Spady, it was his first goal of the 2011-12 season and the first of his professional career. The Brahmas never relinquished the lead from then on, proceeding to score three more times on Jung. In addition, fellow rookie forward Jordan Kary scored his ninth goal of the season and picked up his 11th assist. Guggenberger was dominant between the pipes for Texas, stopping 22 of 23 shots on goal and holding Laredo scoreless for the first 52:55 of the game. The rookie netminder improved to 8-3-2 with a .919 save percentage and a league-best 2.26 GAA. With the win, the Brahmas improved to 11-2-2 when scoring the first goal of the game and 9-0-2 when leading after the first period of play.
