ALLEN, Texas – Allen tried to dig itself out of a three-goal hole, but the Quad
City Mallards held on for a 3-2 victory.Quad City made the score 3-0 on a goal by Jason Kostadine at 2:31 in the second period, and Allen got as close as 3-2 when Dylan King scored 10:52 into the third period.
Mickey Lang had two goals to lead the Mallards to victory. Lang’s tallies came at 2:50 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Quad City and 3:05 into the first to make the score 2-0 Quad City.
Quad City averages 34.9 shots on goal per game, but only sent 20 pucks on net against Allen.
More assists for Quad City came via Brandon Marino, who had two and Obi Aduba and Jeremy Boyer, who contributed one a piece.
Allen additionally got points from Jim McKenzie, who also racked up one goal and one assist. In addition, Allen received assists from Matt Register, Colton Yellow Horn, and Nick Layton, who each chipped in one.
David McKee rejected 26 shots on goal for the Mallards. Quad City incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Rejean Beauchemin recorded 17 saves for Allen. Allen incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
