WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Phantoms scored the only goal of the game with a goal by Jason Akeson getting it past goalie Scott Munroe at 8:59 in the first period. After that it was Micheal Leighton and Munroe the rest of the night.
Munroe turned aside everything else he faced after the goal, while the Penguins had several chances to even the score, but Leighton turned them aside, including a spectacular glove save on a point-blank shot by Alex Grant with about six minutes left in regulation time.
Munroe dropped to 17-7-3 on the season, making 20 saves on 21 shots. Leighton elevated his record to 22-23-0 making all 24 saves on 24 shots Three stars of the game: 1. ADK – 49 Michael Leighton 24 save shutout 2. ADK – 38 Jason Akeson Game winning goal 3. ADK – 16 Tye McGinn 1 assist
