PHN photo essay: Flyers and Devils tangle in game two of their series

PHILADELPHIA – You might wonder why scoring in the NHL is so difficult.   For the novice viewer and new fan to the sport it is difficult to reconcile the speed of the game with the limited scoring.

The hockey player today is bigger, faster and stronger than those I recall following through the 1990’s.

In game two of their second round series with the New Jersey Devils, the Flyers lost the match 4-1 and this pictorial the fan can see why scoring is so difficult.

There is simply no room on the ice to maneuver and set up without a defensive body occupying the same space as the offensive player.
