Evansville, Ind. – The 3rd place Evansville Icemen took on the 1st place Fort Wayne Komets tonight in front of an announced crowd of 9,403 – the largest attendance for a game in the IceMen’s franchise history.
The game got underway with the Icemen establishing pressure on the Komets early. Evansville forward Brian Bicek notched his 18th goal of the season on passes from teammate Nicklas Lindberg and Steve Makway. Bicek tapped the puck under Fort Wayne goalie Nick Boucher’s stick at the 8:61 mark. It wouldn’t take long for the Icemen to score their second goal as John Ronan scored his 7th goal of the year from Todd Robinson and Nick Schneider at the 14:63 mark. At the 10:42 mark of the 2nd period, the Icemen tallied their 3rd and final goal of the game as Nick Lindberg scored his 10th goal of the season from Brian Bicek and Sean O’Connor. With just 25 seconds remaining in the contest, Fort Wayne avoided the shutout as Artem Podshendyalov notched his 12th of the season on a 5-on-3 power play goal from Leo Thomas and Jamie Milam.
