The Americans came out flying on the opening shift. Jarret Lukin nearly scored on a wrister that Ian Keserich managed to bat away. Colton Yellow Horn, playing on a line tonight with Jarret Lukin and Ben Wilson, almost put it home on the rebound, which was a good sign of things to come for Yellow Horn on the night. Yellow Horn notched his 18th goal of the season late in the first period to give Allen a 1-0 lead after 20 minutes of play. Allen out shot Tulsa 11-5 in the opening frame. But back came the Oilers in the third.
First it was Michael Beausoleil on the power play, with a wrister that beat Rejean Beauchemin top shelf to trim the lead to 3-1.
74 seconds later, the Oilers cut the lead to a goal when David Solway let one fly from the right wing boards with traffic in front of the net. Gerome Giudice deflected it past Beauchemin to make it a 3-2 Allen lead.
The Oilers had their chances late in the third after pulling Keserich, but the Americans and Beauchemin stood strong and managed the 3-2 win which marked the first for the Americans over the Oilers at home this season.
