WILKES-BARRE , PA – One question that loomed over the Penguins camp prior to Wednesday’s game was could they mount another comeback from a 2-0 deficit in the playoffs?  The ‘Pens started to supply a positive

answer to that query by posting a 3-2 overtime win over the rival Hershey Bears. It then took Mark Letestu less then five minutes of the extra frame to post his first goal of the second season, and start the ‘Pens down the road to recovery.  It was a pinball effect that started with a Deryk Engelland shot from the right point. The puck bounced from right to left and back to the right before Letestu finally got it to roll-up Michal Neuvirth’s blocker pad and into the net. It didn’t start out that promising for the Penguins as Graham Mink made the home team pay for allowing two power play opportunities within a five minute span of the first period.  Mink posted his third goal of the playoffs while Alex Goligoski watched from the penalty box after being tagged for

slashing.  Adam Berkhoel, who was starting his first playoff game of the season in goal for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, kept the score 1-0 for the remainder of the first. Berkhoel then battled the Neuvirth for most of the second period as both goalies remained very protective of their respective nets. Jeff Taffe was finally able to put the ‘Pens on the board when he rifled a slap shot that went off of Bryan Helmer’s chest and past Neuvirth. The goal came with a little over two and a half minutes left in the middle frame.

The Bears would take advantage of another power play early in the third period when Alexandre Giroux put up his fourth goal of the post season, but with less than four minutes to go the ‘Pens would answer with a power play goal of their own off the stick of Bill Thomas.  Regulation would end 2-2, and it was on to the most exciting moment in sports, play-off overtime hockey.
