Than, at the 12 minute mark, the Force began their surge as they scored twice in a span of 50 seconds, one an even strength goal from Chris Stafne, the other a shorthanded marker from Andy Taranto, gave Fargo in a commanding 4-1 lead at the second intermission. Fargo opened the third period with a pair of quick goals. Colten St. Clair scored at 2:30 and Gavin Hartzog scored at 3:25 for the Force to place Fargo in a commanding 6-1 lead. Omaha would score at 6:34 from Jake Hauswirth to give Fargo a 6-2 win. The Force proved to be too much in the opener to take a 1-0 series lead.
