NIHL North News – Whitley strengthen their defence

DURHAM, UK – Whitley Warriors of NIHL North Division 1 have added defenceman Tom Ralph from the Hull Stingrays (NIHL side) to their roster. The blue liner from East Yorkshire goes straight into the Warriors squad for this weekend’s games as Whitley travel to Blackburn on Saturday evening before hosting the Trafford Metros on Sunday night (5pm face off) at Hillheads.
Ralph made his debut for the Kingston Predators back in 2008/9 and he has gone onto ice for the Kingston/Hull sides in the ENL during the last few seasons. Tom’s best ENL campaign came in 2010/11 when he picked up 14 points from the 22 games he appeared in. The 19 year old also picked up 40 minutes of penalties that term which illustrates that he enjoys the physical side of the game and is not afraid to stick up for himself and his teammates.
So far in 2012/13 Ralph has made 10 appearances for the Hull Stingrays in NIHL North Division 2 picking up 1 goal and 4 assists which is a creditable tally given Hull are not one of the top sides in that league at this moment in time. Tom trained with Whitley during the week did enough to convince the Warriors coaching staff that he is worthy of a place on their roster.
Whitley are currently just a point above the relegation play off place in Division 1 so Warriors will be hoping that Ralph’s arrival will give a boost to their whole squad. Warriors will be eager to take positive results from both of this weekend’s games however Sunday’s home game with the bottom club (in NIHL North 1) the Trafford Metros is a game that neither side can afford to lose.
