NCAA Frozen Four comes to Pennsylvania

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind – The NCAA has officially announced that the Division I Men’s Ice Hockey host sites for the 2013 and 2014 Men’s Frozen Four will go to the two major hockey cities in the state of Pennsylvania. Pittsburgh will host the 2013 Men’s Frozen Four at the Consol Energy Center and Philadelphia will serve as the host for the 2014 championship at the Wachovia Center. The move serves as another step into the growth of NCAA hockey moving into cities that are not traditionally hot college markets. In 2008 it was held in St. Louis, Mo and in 2009 it was held in Washington, DC.          Robert Morris University, a member of the Atlantic Hockey Association (AHA) will serve as the host for the Frozen Four in Pittsburgh on April 11 and 13, 2003 and the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) will serve as the host for the event in Philadelphia on April 10 and 12, 2014. The two championships will be the first ever NCAA Division I Men’s Ice Hockey Championship held in the state of Pennsylvania.      The 2011 Men’s Frozen Four will be held in St. Paul, Minn., at the Xcel Energy Center, April 7 and 9. The 2012 championships will be held at the St. Pete Times Forum in Tampa, Fla., April 5 and 7.      Contact the author at Brian.Jennings@prohockeynews.com
