NOTTINGHAM, UK – Influential forward Danny Myers will be out of action for some time after suffering an undisclosed injury in training. The Cardiff-born centre played though Nottingham’s defeat against Belfast. However, this appears to have aggravated the injury, and Myers may now require surgery. It was initially thought the 26-year-old would miss out for four to six weeks, but he is likely to miss out for much longer. Panthers Coach Corey Neilson, said: “This is a big blow. Matthew was a warrior to even take to the ice on Saturday and we’re going to miss him. He’s a key player for us.” Myers will be sorely missed for Nottingham, having racked up 26 points in 20 games so far this season. Although playing on with his injury against Belfast, the Panthers lost 3-2 thanks to Aaron Clarke’s game-winning goal on his debut for the Giants. Mark Garside and Craig Peacock had given Belfast a comfortable lead in the first period, and the Giants didn’t look back. Guillaume Lepine and Jordan Fox scored for the Panthers, but the league leaders claimed the three points. Myers is in his seventh season for the Panthers after signing a new contract during the summer. Contact the author david.bol@prohockeynews.com
